NTT Communications Data Centre in Hong Kong Awarded ISO/IEC 27001:2005 ISMS Certification
(Hong Kong – 19 January 2009) NTT Com Asia, a wholly owned Hong Kong subsidiary of NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com), announced today that Tai Po Data Centre, which is operated by NTT Com Asia, has successfully acquired the internationally recognized ISO/IEC 27001:2005 Information Security Management System (ISMS) Certification just one year after its soft launch.
The certification underlines the importance that NTT Com Asia places on the security of client information, and it also endorses the company's successful efforts to adopt professional, world-class standards for process and control. Tai Po Data Centre, one of NTT Com's many premium data centres, helps to maintain standards for service quality throughout the NTT Com Group's global network.
In an era when information has become crucial, data centres must offer discreet and robust security management to guard their clients’ assets against accidental loss, damage, or divulgence of data, as well as the enormous cost of such accidents. ISO/IEC 27001:2005 certification is awarded only to facilities that are proven to have such capabilities by undergoing rigorous inspection in which a series of independent requirements are met.
“NTT Communications has made information security and the protection of clients’ interests an utmost priority”, said Mr. Brandon Lee, NTT Com Asia's Executive Vice President of New Business. “We are honoured to be awarded the ISO certificate as a result of our relentless dedication to excellence on every level of information security management. This philosophy is embedded in all facets of our organization, including corporate culture and management principles, as well as our daily operations, network management and disaster-recovery measures. Over the years, it has elevated our service to world-class standards and instilled strong confidence in NTT Com among clients.”
Tai Po Data Centre's Tier 3+ infrastructure incorporates multiple sources and multiple access paths to eliminate the possibility of single-point failure in its power supply, air conditioning and information network. The data centre was established in 2007 on the 1st floor of a building then owned by APTT. NTT Com acquired APTT in 2008 as part of expanding their data centre business in the region.
