NTT Communications Partners with Dimension Data to Deliver Hong Kong’S First Mobile Virtual Network Enabler Solution

Speeds time to market and reduces infrastructure costs for ICT services and solutions provider

Singapore, 2 Aug 2016 – NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com), the ICT solutions and international communications business within the NTT Group (NYSE: NTT) partners with Dimension Data, the USD $7.5 billion global ICT solutions and services provider to deliver the first Mobile Virtual Network Enabler (MVNE) platform in Hong Kong, providing Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) with the infrastructure needed to deliver 3G (UMTS) and 4G(LTE) data services in the city.

With an MVNE platform responsible for the management of all mobile data connections, policy control, billing and signalling, MVNOs can use them to drive down their setup and operation costs.  “Delivering a MNVE solution requires heavy upfront investment in specialised equipment, and high scalability and agility is required to cater to customer demand timely. It is crucial to find a partner that could work hand in hand with us to provide the required infrastructure to deliver on our MVNE ambitions. We believe that partnering with our group company Dimension Data would be an ideal option” said Taylor Man, Chief Technology Officer, NTT Com Asia, the East Asia Headquarters of NTT Communications.

Dimension Data proposed the Network Function Virtualization (NFV) architecture to ensure NTT Communications’ platform in Hong Kong would be scalable and would benefit from flexible licensing. This also gives it the ability to move away from running functions on expensive proprietary hardware. This in turn allows NTT Communications to provide quick go-to-market for its customers, enabling them to rapidly roll out new mobile services and plans.

“We are incredibly proud to be involved in a project that has enabled us to deliver this first-of-its-kind solution to Hong Kong. This move will benefit both businesses and consumers, and we are delighted to be entrusted by NTT Communications to roll out this platform in the most cost-effective and efficient manner,” comments Steve Lam, Managing Director, Dimension Data Hong Kong.
